Negotiations have been ongoing since the summer but, as things stand, the player’s current deal will run down in just over eighteen months’ time:
Mason Mount contract talks reach stalemate with 18 months left on Chelsea deal @mcgrathmike #CFC

Considering his recent performances for the Blues, the majority of supporters on Twitter don’t believe that Mount should be given a lucrative new contract anyway:
With recent form, he doesn’t deserve new contract

Wouldn’t be as Big of a loss as rudiger

It’s alright if he’s about 120k per week and used as rotational player because he’s versatile. He’s our John O’Shea. Anything more than that would be absurd

He is no position to negotiate.

He’s not producing consistently. Rated 4/10 today – it’s too often been the case this year and end of last season. Not really in a great negotiating position

To continue not playing well🤝

It is believed that Chelsea have put contingency plans in place if Mount does decide to leave Stamford Bridge. Both Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini and Villarreal’s Yeremy Pino have been scouted as possible replacements.
While there doesn’t appear to be much hope of a breakthrough at the moment, it would still be a shock if the England international departs the club, considering his close affiliation to the Blues. We shall have to wait and see how this story unfolds over the coming weeks and months.
