William Saliba signed a new deal with Arsenal

Arsenal are said to have negotiated a new contract with William Saliba this summer, putting to rest speculation that he may leave the club during the current transfer window.

The defender had a tremendous year in France, as he helped Marseille finish second in the league while also winning the Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year title.

While he was thought to be keen to return to the same club for another period, he is now likely to stay at the Emirates and compete for a first-team spot with Ben White and Gabriel Magalhaes, and there are also indications that we have reached terms with the kid on a new agreement as well.

There were just two years left on his five-year contract when he joined from St Etienne in 2019, so it would be ideal if we had previously tried to extend his terms beyond that point, as our control over his future may have been jeopardized.

Saliba appears to be a big talent, and one that all of us supporters have been waiting to see in action in our renowned red and white for quite some time.

It remains to be seen how fast he will integrate into his new team, since he has yet to make a competitive appearance for us despite joining three years ago.
