SkySky sportsWest Ham will kick off the 2022/23 Premier League season against the defending champion Manchester City at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
There is a potential that new acquisition Gianluca Scamacca, who joined the club from Sassuolo in a £30.5 million deal, will make his debut for the Hammers in the match. He did not, however, play in the club’s most recent friendly against Lens.
Following a seventh-place finish last season, David Moyes’ team will be hoping to start the season on a high note after reaching the Europa League semi-finals before falling to eventual champions Eintracht Frankfurt.
They will face a Manchester City team that has lost three players this summer, with Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Raheem Sterling all departing. They have been replaced by Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland, who failed to score in last weekend’s Community Shield defeat to Liverpool.
With a fresh look City going on a well-oiled West Ham team, this weekend’s game has the potential to be one of the more entertaining games of the opening weekend.
