‘We’re Seeing A Lot Of Positives’ How Chelsea Can Beat Dortmund In The Champions League

In a recent press conference by Chelsea boss Graham Potter, he said he is ‘seeing a lot of positives’ in training. Those positives finally came home to roost as Chelsea beat Leeds United to record their first Premier League win since January.

Chelsea have suffered defeats against the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton and Manchester City (twice) in the last couple of months. Potter’s team have experienced a shocking run of form, but they can put all that behind them with a statement win over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday evening.

It will be a difficult task – Dortmund are no pushovers, which they proved as they beat Chelsea in their first leg of the tie. In that game, the score was 1-0, with the only goal of the match being scored by Karim Adeyemi.

The Blues will be at home in the second leg – theoretically, this should give them an advantage. However, should they go a goal behind and the fans begin to grow impatient, it could work against them – therefore, it is of the utmost importance that Chelsea draw first blood against Dortmund.

An early goal will also give them confidence that they can push on and win the game – which is something that the squad is lacking as a collective unit.

Chelsea will also need to gain a strong foothold in midfield. Since the January window, the Blues have been bullied in the middle of the park on a frequent basis – if they allow Liverpool transfer target Jude Bellingham to strut his stuff, they could be in serious trouble.

The game against Dortmund will be a massive acid test for Potter. Swathes of Chelsea fans are ready to see the back of him – a statement win over a legitimately strong team could be just what he needs to get them on his side.
