Videos: Tear gas was used on protesters at Lekki during Mohbad’s Candlelight Procession

According to the allegation, fans of the late Afrobeat musician, Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, who rushed the Lekki Phase 1 Gate of Lagos State for the late singer’s candles were shot teargas on Thursday night.

The parade began at the Lekki Phase 1 gate and was scheduled to terminate at Muri Okunola Park, where a memorial concert was staged in honor of the late artist.

However, following the ceremony, admirers and well-wishers of the late musician, who were clad in white t-shirts and dancing to the late artiste’s songs while carrying posters and banners featuring the deceased’s images, were shot upon.

After teargas was thrown into the air, dozens of people were seen taking to their heels in a series of videos that circulated on social media.

Following the event, some people were seriously hurt and had to be brought to the hospital.

Remember that the 27-year-old singer died on September 12, 2023, and was buried the next day in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

Mohbad’s killing sparked outrage, prompting the Lagos Police Command to exhume his remains for an examination.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Police, verified the exhumation.
