United ‘Considering’ £69M Bid For French Midfield Enforcer Following Ten Hag’s Request

Manchester United are “considering” whether to make a bid for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, according to Sport.

The Catalan newspaper claims that Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag “wants” the Frenchman and he has “asked” the club to make a concerted effort to sign the player.

An offer “very similar” to the one that Real made for Tchouameni twelve months ago is said to be in the works, Last year, the La Liga club signed the 23-year-old for an initial €80m (£69m), with another €20m (£17m) in add-ons, and it seems United are prepared to match those figures.

However, Sport report that Real’s stance on selling Tchouameni has not changed. They want to keep the midfielder if they can, although circumstances could still change if they need the resources to finance a move for PSG’s Kylian Mbappe before the end of the summer.

Rival clubs are pursuing Tchouameni

It is believed that Bayern Munich are also interested in securing the France international’s signature, if Real make him available before the transfer window closes.

Manager Thomas Tuchel has publicly expressed his dissatisfaction in recent days about the absence of a natural ‘six’ in his squad and Tchouameni has been identified as a target.

United may end up pursuing a cheaper alternative

While Sport firmly believe that ten Hag wants the club to buy Tchouameni, most other sources are claiming that Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat is the player that has been identified to strengthen the midfield.

At €30m (£26m), the Moroccan would be a lot cheaper than Tchouameni and the fact that he is immediately available as well does make him a more likely target for the Red Devils.

While fans shouldn’t be holding out much hope that United will make a serious bid for Tchouameni, they should be more confident that a deal for Amrabat will be reached.
