Sky Journalist Claims Chelsea Are Prepared To Lose 18M On Lampard Signing Who Has “Uncertain” Future At The Club

Chelsea forward Kai Havertz has an “uncertain” future and could be sold at the end of the season, according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.

The journalist claims that the lack of Champions League football could lead to the former Bayer Leverkusen player leaving Stamford Bridge next summer:

If the Blues are prepared to let Havertz leave for €60m (£52.75m), as Plettenberg suggests, it would mean the club would lose around £18m on the 23-year-old, who cost a total of £71m when he made the switch to England in 2020.

It’s fair to say that the German international has had a mixed time since arriving in London. He famously scored the winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final, but he has struggled to hold down a regular place in the starting eleven.

Manager Graham Potter has selected Havertz on a more consistent basis but it appears that the player could now agitate for a move away from the club.
