Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo is Liverpool’s “alternative” to Jude Bellingham, according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.
The Ecuadorian international is known to be on the Reds’ radar, with Manchester United and Chelsea also believed to be keen, and Plettenberg says the player will be considered if Jurgen Klopp’s side miss out on Bellingham:
As reported: Liverpool is doing everything and Klopp is pushing a lot! Internal saying: Bellingham first! Caicedo is an alternative. Liverpool is highly rated from the player. But nothing decided yet. LFC won’t pay every price. Dortmund expects between €100-150m!

Supporters on Twitter can’t understand why Liverpool are not looking to go after BOTH Bellingham and Caicedo, especially considering that a number of midfielders will be leaving Anfield at the end of the season:
We should be signing both

Caicedo the backup plan ffs we never learn. It has to be him and another midfielder in january and then we can worry about Jude in the summer

Why is he seen as an alternative? It had to be both!

With Bellingham expected to cost as much as €150m (£129m) and Caicedo’s price tag reportedly set at around the £85m mark, it’s hard to see the Reds signing the two players.
Especially with the Merseyside club’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, looking to sell up, fans should not really be expecting a record transfer spend next summer, unless new investment is found by then.
