Aan Shearer says he expects Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham to leave the Bundesliga club in the not-too-distant future.
The BBC pundit claims it won’t be long before “huge clubs” like Liverpool make a move to secure the 19-year-old’s signature:
“It’s only a matter of time before he goes on to a huge club like Real Madrid or Liverpool because that’s the talent that you’re talking about. First and foremost to be an England captain you have to perform on the football pitch but the way he carries himself, the way he talks, it’s fantastic.”
Bellingham scored England’s opener as the Three Lions thrashed Iran 6-2 in their first World Cup group game on Monday, and speculation about a potential summer transfer will only increase if he continues to impress at the tournament.
In addition to Liverpool and Real, the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are also believed to be interested in snapping up the teenager.
The main obstacle for every club, though, will be Bellingham’s asking price. Reports in the German media have suggested that Dortmund are likely to hold out for around €150m (£130m), which would smash the British transfer record. We shall have to wait and see whether any team will put that much money on the table.
