Seun Kuti Slams Nigerian Celebrities for Serving Davido Like a “Slave” in Israel
Seun Kuti, a Nigerian artist, has lambasted Nigerian celebrities for criticising Davido’s logistics manager, Israel Afeare, also known as Isreal DMW, for treating his boss as a slave.
According to reports, Isreal DMW made news this weekend after revealing the breakdown of his marriage and accusing his estranged wife, Sheila Courage, of urging him to leave Davido.
Sheila clarified her comments in an Instagram post, saying she had no problem with Israel serving Davido; instead, she recommended him to leave a legacy or start a company, which was a major concern for his family.
The comment sparked controversy on social media, with many denouncing Sheila and others defending her, pointing out that no woman would be comfortable witnessing Israel kneel for Davido in public.
Seun Kuti stated in an Instagram post on Monday that Nigerian celebrities who laud and prostrate before politicians are no different than Israel DMW, referring to them as “billion-dollar slaves.”
He wrote: “All the celebrities in Nigeria behave like Isreal in front of politicians and billionaires, na praise una dey praise dem na. Why is this different? At least Davido isn’t sucking your blood! who deserved hailing? Question for the gods. Billion-dollar slaves. The commodification of the African existence and why Isreal is everyone. Live after sound check. Nigerians dey talk about dignity? Nothing wey keypad no go cause.”
