Romano Confirms That Arsenal Can Now Sign Spanish Star For 35M After Release Clause Is Revealed

Celtic Vigo attacking midfielder Gabri Veiga has a €40m (£35m) release clause, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle have all been linked with the Spanish Under 21 international in recent days but, while Romano confirms that “top clubs” are interested in the player, Celta won’t let him leave for below the current buyout fee:

Reports had suggested that Celta may be willing to sell Veiga for around €30m (£26.5m) but it seems those claims were wide of the mark.

As Romano mentions, the 20-year-old has been in outstanding form this campaign, so it is not a surprise that the likes of the Gunners are keeping close tabs on his development.

Whether Mikel Arteta’s side would be willing to pay the release clause in full, though, is another matter. With Martin Odegaard and Fabio Vieira already in the first-team squad, Arsenal are pretty well stocked in terms of no.10s.
