It is believed that the Gunners are hoping to agree a fee in the region of £40m for the Ukrainian international, which is under half of what Shakhtar were originally demanding.
When supporters on Twitter were asked about the prospect of securing Mudryk’s signature ahead of the January transfer window, most were delighted:
Mudryk! red carpet ready and waiting mate 👌 👍

Don’t wanna get carried away by speculations, until I see a done deal, I’m not getting excited, but he’s such a healthy competition for martinelli, Smith can stop playing from the wing, run less in the middle and stay away from injury

It’s probably wise to be cautious about these reports, especially as the fee mentioned is WAY BELOW what the 21-year-old’s asking price is believed to be.
If Arsenal do manage to secure Mudryk’s services, though, it would be a coup. Manchester United, Newcastle and a fair few teams on the continent have also been pursuing the Ukrainian, who has lit up this season’s Champions League.
The winger could be a huge asset for Mikel Arteta’s side in the second half of the season as they look to maintain their title challenge.
