PSG striker Icardi heads to Galatasaray on loan

The season-long loan signing of Mauro Icardi from Paris Saint-Germain to Galatasaray has been finalized.

For some weeks, Icardi has been linked with a move to the Turkish giants, and a contract between the teams and the player has finally been reached. He’ll be joining a team that already includes Lucas Torreira, Dries Mertens, and, eventually, Juan Mata.

The Argentine joined PSG in 2019 and has scored 38 goals and provided 10 assists in 92 games for the club. However, Icardi has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter at Parc des Princes, despite opposition from the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, and will try to regain his best form at Galatasaray.

Icardi will be anxious to assist Galatasaray reclaim first place in the Super Lig. They finished 13th last season, which was fairly surprising given that Trabzonspor and Fenerbahce led the way at the top.

After traveling to Istanbul to confirm his arrival, the 29-year-old will meet up with his new teammates before of Sunday’s match against Kasimpasa.
