Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson expects Manchester United to secure a comfortable win when they face Tottenham this evening.
Spurs are going into the game having changed their manager after a humiliating 6-1 defeat to Newcastle last weekend, and Merson believes United will pile on the misery:
“Both teams play the same way – they sit back and attack on the counter, and I don’t think much will happen. Manchester United can kill a game as well – they were second-best at times against Brighton but they were comfortable. Credit where credit’s due – they’re now in a final.”
“I’m worried that Tottenham don’t have a manager, and I don’t see how they can come back from their defeat against Newcastle. Man United will have too much for them on the counter and should be able to win this game.”
Merson has gone with a 2-0 win for Erik ten Hag’s side, which seems like a decent prediction, considering the fragile state the home side are in ahead of the clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
It may be a cagey affair early on, as Merson says, with Tottenham keen to keep things tight at the back after being torn to shreds a few days ago at St James’ Park.
Whether they possess the organisation to keep the likes of Marcus Rashford quiet for the full 90 minutes, though, it is doubtful, so the Red Devils should have a good chance of securing the three points tonight.
