Mr. Macaroni Is Ready For A Peaceful Walk
Mr Macaroni, a popular Nigerian comedian and activist, has announced a peaceful walk to mark the third anniversary of the #EndSARS protest.
The 30-year-old announced this in an Instagram post on Thursday, revealing that the peaceful walk will honour victims of the October 20 protest at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos.
Remember that in October 2020, a public outcry began calling for an end to police brutality, extrajudicial executions, extortion, and abuse of authority, particularly by personnel of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
The nonviolent demonstration resulted in the disbandment of SARS by the Nigerian federal government.
However, the demonstration was put to an end on October 20 when officers of the Nigerian Army opened fire on the protestors, killing and wounding several of them.
Mr Macaroni wrote on the anniversary: “3 Years now!!! We will Never Forget!!!#EndSars!!!!We will be walking peacefully to honor all those who lost their lives on 20/10/2020!!! We also walk for all those who have lost their lives as a result of police brutality in Nigeria!!! We walk in peace!!! We will never forget!”
