Mohbad: Things You Need To Do Before Signing Contracts
Abass Akande, also known as Obesere, a prominent Fuji musician, has encouraged artists to think about the long-term repercussions of their contracts before signing anything.
In the aftermath of the death of musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, nicknamed Mohbad, the ‘Egungun be Careful’ singer warned Punch that young people should consider their future before accepting contracts.
He advised them to seek the advice of someone more knowledgeable before making any commitments.
According to him, “Young people need to think about the future of the contract they sign. They should know that their actions today determine tomorrow’s outcome, except God decides to turn things around (for them). But, not everybody will be that lucky. That is why they must carefully peruse the terms of their contracts with someone who knows better, even if they cannot afford a lawyer. Most importantly, young artists should always ask for God’s guidance in whatever they do.”
He asked the appropriate authorities to guarantee that justice be served to the late Mohbad.
No stone should be left unturned, according to the singer.
Obesere also expressed regret that Mohbad was gaining greater popularity and notoriety after his death.
“I feel bad about it. I did not even know him until his death. I might have come across his songs being played and didn’t know they were his. It is sad that his death has brought him and his works more fame. There are lots of lessons to be learnt from this saga,” he also said.
