Manchester United won Crystal Palace 2-1 despite Casemiro seeing red card

Marcus Rashford earned a penalty in the first half before scoring himself in the second half as Manchester United defeated Crystal Palace 2-1 at Old Trafford despite a straight red card for Casemiro.

A VAR assessment revealed that Will Hughes had touched a pass from Rashford in the box, and Bruno Fernandes sent Vincent Guaita the wrong way from the spot in the seventh minute.

With Palace failing to generate chances, Rashford scored the second goal with an easy finish following a move that featured some brilliant short passing as United appeared to be on their way to a comfortable victory.

Casemiro was awarded a straight red card for grabbing Hughes by the throat as both sides battled following a foul on Antony, and Jeffrey Schlupp brought a goal back in the 76th minute to give Palace hope.

The visitors pushed forward in search of an equalizer, but United coach Erik ten Hag put on Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof to help stem the assault as they clung to victory.
