Manchester United have signed Turkey goalkeeper Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce for £4.3m.

Altay Bayindir, who joined Manchester United for £4.3 million from Fenerbahce, has expressed his satisfaction at being the club’s first Turkish player.

Bayindir, 25, joins Andre Onana at Old Trafford to round up the club’s goalkeeping rotation. In a £47 million transfer, Onana was attracted to Manchester from Inter Milan to replace David de Gea, while Bayindir will become the club’s new No.2 following Dean Henderson’s departure to Crystal Palace.

The Turkish international made over 100 games for Fenerbahce over three years and couldn’t disguise his joy after completing a move to the Premier League after weeks of rumours.

“It is a huge honour to join Manchester United and become the first Turkish player to represent this incredible club,” Bayindir told Manutd.com on Friday morning. I am driven by a desire for achievement, and I will do all in my power to assist this unique group of athletes in achieving our goals.

“I am very excited to begin working with such an experienced goalkeeping unit.” Every day, we will encourage one another and set high standards so that everyone of us is ready to perform when called upon.”

Manchester United’s Football Director, John Murtough, also commented on the agreement. “Altay is an excellent addition to our squad and adds additional quality to our already strong group of experienced goalkeepers,” he added.

“Having consistently performed at a high level in a strong European league, he has the qualities to support us in achieving our ambitions across all competitions this season and beyond.”

Bayindir’s arrival kicks off what is anticipated to be a hectic deadline day at Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag is still hoping to add two more players, with Sergio Reguilon and Sofyan Amrabat in negotiations about loan deals.
