Manchester City defeated Arsenal 1-0 in FA Cup encounter

Arsenal suffered their first defeat in 2023 as they were knocked out of the FA Cup by rivals Manchester City.

The Gunners were somewhat superior in the first half, despite a 45-minute period with few possibilities. There was no corner before the break, and it wasn’t the finest viewing for the neutrals, but that’s not uncommon when two of the top teams in the country meet.

Arsenal brought in both Saliba and Lokonga at halftime, but it was our opponents who started to turn the screw in the second half, and they were enjoying more and more in the final third until their double-change of Alvarez and Kyle Walker, which brought an almost instant return.

The Argentine was engaged in the pressure, barely being denied by the post before the ball dropped to Nathan Ake, who expertly tucked his shot into the side netting.

Arteta reacted quickly by bringing on Gabriel Martinelli and Oleksandr Zinchenko, who were quickly followed by skipper Odegaard, but there wasn’t enough time for us to develop a rhythm and regain control of the game.

It’s not a big issue since losing at City could happen to any club in the world, and one less distraction from our title bid can’t be a bad thing, can it?
