Major European Club Could Make Transfer Move For Arsenal Defender

French giants PSG could make a transfer move for Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhães, according to a report from GOAL Brazil [via ParisSG INFOS on Twitter].

PSG’s main defensive transfer target is believed to be Bayern Munich’s Lucas Hernandez [via PSGTalk]. Should they fail to get their hands on Hernandez, they will instead turn their attention to Gabriel.

Despite this, the Brazilian centre-half is reportedly comfortable at Arsenal and will ‘not even think of a possible transfer’ but PSG will contact his representatives regardless. He may be happy at the Emirates Stadium for now, but money talks in football – and PSG have plenty of it.

Who else has been linked with Arsenal defender Gabriel?

For the upcoming summer transfer window, PSG remain the only club who are linked with a transfer for the 25-year-old. He has, however, received interested from several other teams over the past couple of years.

In 2022, both Barcelona and Juventus reportedly registered an interest Gabriel. Nevertheless, neither are looking to pursue a move for him in the present day.

Gabriel career summary

Born in Sao Paulo in Brazil, Gabriel began his youth career at Avaí, when he was just 15 years old. He made his senior debut for the club in 2016, before signing for Lille in 2017.

While at Lille, he enjoyed loan spells at a pair of clubs – Troyes and Dinamo Zagreb, respectively. He made 39 appearances for La Machine de Guerre, scoring two goals.

Finally, in 2020, Gabriel joined Arsenal for a total fee of around £27 million. He has gone on to become a mainstay of the Gunners’ backline – alongside William Saliba, they have formed a formidable centre-back duo.
