Lyon unveil Lucas Paqueta proposals amid Arsenal speculation, with Edu sending a £68 million midfielder message.

The midfielder continues to be linked with a move to Arsenal this summer as the Gunners continue to strengthen

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed that the club has received “proposals” to recruit Lucas Paqueta this summer. Arsenal has been extensively linked with a deal for the Brazilian.

It comes as Mikel Arteta aims to keep the club’s momentum going after losing out on the top four late in the previous season. Rather than lamenting what could have been, the Spaniard has been hard at work bolstering his alternatives for the forthcoming season.

Four players have already joined, including Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City for £45 million. While the issue of a center-forward has been resolved, there are still questions about other parts of the team.

Arteta might try to strengthen the midfield in particular. Last season, he struggled with his two deeper players in the center of the field, with Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka being the customary partnership.

Aside from those two, the manager had just a few combinations at his disposal. From Youri Tielemans to Lucas Paqueta, a number of players have been associated to the solution.

The latter is the most recent candidate to enter the picture, with GOAL suggesting that Edu has spoken with the Brazilian’s camp about a possible trade. Lyon is thought to be asking for €80 million (£68 million).

Among such rumours, the president of the French club, Jean-Michel Aulas, indicated last weekend that the club is interested in the midfielder: “There are bids for him [Paqueta].” Certain players may feel complete in the project, while others may not.

“We have the financial resources to pursue our ideas and goals.” The coach shared his thoughts with us, and there is also what the players want to accomplish.”

It remains to be seen whether the two clubs can reach an agreement as the Gunners continue their summer spending binge in pursuit of a top-four finish.
