Liverpool’s Predicted Starting Lineup Against Bournemouth

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp would have been happy with some aspects of the performance against Chelsea last weekend.

The Reds got off to a strong start and could have been 2-0 up in the first half if Mo Salah’s goal hadn’t been ruled out for offside but, the longer the game went on, the poorer the team played, and the absence of a natural holding midfield player became all the more glaring.

Klopp’s men face Bournemouth in their first home match of the season. The Cherries drew 1-1 versus West Ham in their first competitive match under the management of Andoni Iraola and you would have to say they are still an unknown quantity going into Saturday’s fixture at Anfield.

In terms of the starting lineup, Klopp will probably stick with the same backline that he selected at Stamford Bridge, which means Alisson in goal, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson making up the four-man defence.

There are unlikely to be any changes in midfield, with the Reds’ newest signing Wataru Endo not expected to be registered in time, even though his move to the Merseyside club was officially confirmed on Friday afternoon. It means Alexis Mac Allister will play as the ‘6’ again. The Argentinian international did a decent enough job playing out of position versus Chelsea but he is clearly more comfortable higher up the pitch. Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo are also set to stay in the eleven.

Up front, after a poor match against the Blues, Diogo Jota could be dropped to the bench, with Darwin Nunez leading the line instead. Luis Diaz and Mo Salah are likely to line up either side of the Uruguayan international.
