Liverpool Urged To Take A “Gamble” And Snatch “Experienced Winner” From Chelsea

Liverpool legend Steve Nicol believes his former club should be in the mix to sign Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante on a free transfer.

The 31-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and, despite concerns about his recent injury record, Nicol says the Reds should take a chance on the World Cup winner:

“You know exactly what you are getting when he is fit. You know you are getting a player, a gentleman and an experienced winner. He’s the whole package. The nicest guy in the world. Fantastic in the dressing room. You are getting everything. The question is, the fitness side of it, but it’s worth a gamble. If I am Madrid, Man City, Liverpool, Barcelona, Bayern, or any of the so-called big guys. If this guy is on a free, then I am signing him.”

Kante has played just twice this season after picking up a serious hamstring problem back in August, and it is not the only injury he has sustained in recent years.

Over the past three seasons, he has picked up seven separate issues, ranging from knee problems, groin and other muscular injuries.

Considering his age as well, Kante doesn’t seem like a worthwhile signing, especially as he will also likely demand a sizeable salary.

He could come back from his latest injury and impress everyone with his performances, but you can’t see Jurgen Klopp’s side being tempted into making a move for him.
