Liverpool Fans Worried After Star Summer Signing Goes Down With Injury

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister went down with an injury during a pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich, according to a tweet from journalist Ian Doyle.

After a collision with a Bayern player, Mac Allister immediately hit the deck and signalled that he was suffering major discomfort in his knee. Additionally, the Liverpool players surrounded him and called for medical attention after the incident.

Doyle initially tweeted: “Mac Allister down injured,” before following it up with: “Liverpool players around him were immediately calling for attention. Doesn’t look good.”

With there being just 11 days until Liverpool’s first game of the season, Reds fans will have their fingers crossed that the former Brighton and Hove Albion man will be available.

Will Alexis Mac Allister miss the start of the season?

While the injury to Mac Allister initially looked troublesome, given the pain he appeared to be in, post-match examinations have indicated that the effects of the collision were not as serious as onlookers initially thought.

Since reports of Mac Allister’s injury surfaced, Jurgen Klopp has assured fans that the injury is not a severe one – as such, the Argentinian should be fit and ready to take on Chelsea in the Reds’ first game of the 2023/24 Premier League season.

What will Alexis Mac Allister bring to the team at Liverpool?

Last season, Liverpool struggled manfully in the middle of the park. Much of this was due to aging playing staff and poor recruitment – Jordan Henderson and James Milner could not keep up with Klopp’s intense pressing, while players such as Arthur Melo were simply unsuitable for such a system.

Not only is Mac Allister technically sound, he is also a very hard worker and covers a lot of ground in every game that he plays in. He will be a perfect player for Klopp’s 4-3-3 system, especially when his adaptability is taken into account.

Last season, while playing for Brighton, Mac Allister scored ten goals in the Premier League, alongside two assists. Can he replicate these impressive tallies at Anfield? Or will he be the next in a long line of midfield flops for the Reds?
