The French website claims that the Reds “appreciate the profile” of the Brazilian international, who bagged 26 goals and provided nine assists in 33 appearances last campaign.
Malcom is said to be open to leaving Russia, having recently expressed an interest in joining Paris Saint-Germain, but he is not expected to press for a move away from Zenit.
Foot Mercato say that neither Liverpool nor any other team has made an offer for the 26-year-old at this stage, although that could change before the end of the transfer window.
What other clubs are interested in Malcom?
PSG have been mentioned as potential suitors for the Brazilian, while there are thought to be a number of Saudi Arabian teams keen on snapping him up as well.
Back in May, 90min.com also linked the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Newcastle with a move for a Malcom, suggesting that Zenit could be willing to sell the forward for around £40m. Those three clubs weren’t mentioned by Foot Mercato, though, who name Liverpool as the only English side in their report.
Do Liverpool need another winger?
Signing a wide player is not likely to be top of manager Jurgen Klopp’s agenda. The German already has the likes of Mo Salah, Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota who can play on the wings. There are also youngsters such as Ben Doak who can fill in when required.
Malcom does prefer to play on the right flank, so there is a possiblity that he’s being looked at as a replacement for Salah if he decides to make the move to Saudi next year. Still, you would think that the Reds would want a much more high-profile player when the Egyptian king eventually leaves Anfield.
