Latest Chelsea Injury Report: Updates On Silva, Fofana, James And Kante

Chelsea’s centre back Thiago Silva has a tight hamstring and it will be decided if he will be rested for the Brentford game ahead of the Manchester United match this weekend.

Wesley Fofana had a sprained knee against AC Milan earlier this month, and while the injury was not as severe as originally thought, the defender will be out until after the World Cup.

Reece James suffered a knee injury in the second game versus Milan and is expected to be sidelined for eight weeks. The defender says he hopes to return sooner than expected, but the diagnostic implies he won’t be ready until mid-December.

N’Golo Kante has experienced the most serious injury setback. It was agreed earlier this week that the Frenchman will have surgery to repair a hamstring injury. He is now out of the running for up to four months.

Finally, Potter noted that no new issues arose as a result of the win against Aston Villa last weekend, which is a positive indication given the number of players now out. For example, Reece James is out for around two months. Wesley Fofana’s recovery does not appear to have a time constraint. Kante was, of course, already discussed.
