Journalist Reveals That Chelsea Are “Pushing Hard” For 70M Transfer
According to writer Graeme Bailey, Chelsea are “pushing hard” to recruit AC Milan winger Rafael Leao.
The Portuguese international has been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge since the Rossoneri revealed the Blues’ interest in him over the summer, and Bailey believes the forward’s contract predicament makes the move more likely:
“Rafael Leao is another player Chelsea is after. AC Milan are keen for Leao to sign a new long-term contract and are prepared to pay him the most in Serie A. But, as of now, he has not signed, and they expected him to do so before the World Cup. We must keep a close eye on the Leao scenario.”
In January, Leao will have just eighteen months remaining on his contract, and new rumours in Italy claim that Milan may be obliged to sell the winger for as cheap as €80 million (£70 million) to guarantee his worth does not fall much further.
Chelsea are reportedly not the only team interested in the 23-year-old. Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have also been identified as prospective suitors in recent weeks, so a struggle for the player’s services is expected if he decides not to extend his contract.
