‘I’m Lost Without You,’ Wizkid Cries at Mom’s Funeral (Video)

A video of Nigerian superstar musician Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, crying at his late mother’s funeral ceremony on Thursday has gone viral on social media.

According to reports, the singer’s mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, died on August 18, 2023.

The family already announced her burial arrangements and funeral rites in an e-flier released on social media on Sunday, noting that a wake and homage will be conducted in her memory on October 12, followed by the funeral on October 13.

During the wake and tribute event in Lagos, family members were able to pay their final respects to the departed.

When Wizkid was given the microphone to speak, he conveyed how much he will miss his mother in an emotional tone.

“I’m lost without you, Mom. I love you so much. I love you,” he said.

Born on July 26, 1990, in Surulere, Lagos, Wizkid grew up in a polygamous home with a Muslim father and a Christian mother. His father married three wives.

Wizkid’s mum was a frequent presence at his performances and gatherings.

Her husband, M.O Balogun, and four children, Yetunde Balogun, Omolara Osunkoya, Olubusayo Balogun, Ayodeji Balogun (Wizkid), and numerous grandchildren survive her.
