Ian Wright Pinpoints The One Area That Noni Madueke Must Improve If He Is Going To Make It At Chelsea

Arsenal legend Ian Wright says Chelsea winger Noni Madueke has to do better with his final ball if he is to fully realise his potential.

The England Under 21 international has been widely praised for his recent displays against Bournemouth and the Gunners but, speaking after the win versus the Cherrie at the weekend, Wright said the player needs to improve his delivery:

“This was the problem with him – the final ball. He holds it and holds it, in the end this is what he’s going to have to learn quickly to make better decisions in that instance. He’s got this kind of ability [to go past people], you’re thinking as time goes by he will feed it [in the box]. He’ll start to get that in his game, and once he starts getting that in his game then you can see Chelsea have got a real prospect on their hands because he looked very good.”

Madueke does have plenty of attributes to make it at the highest level. He possesses great ball control, speed and the ability to take on his man. Wright is, though, right to point out that he isn’t the complete article quite yet.

Having the composure and footballing intelligence to make the right decision at the right time is an art in itself, and not every player masters it in their career but, if Madueke can make the necessary improvements, he could be an elite player in the years to come
