Gary Neville Makes “300M Transfer War Chest” Claim As He Makes Prediction About Jurgen Klopp

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville believes Liverpool’s chances of winning another Premier League title with manager Jurgen Klopp at the helm depend on the club’s willingness to invest in the transfer market.

At the moment, Neville believes his former team Manchester United are more likely to finish top than the Merseyside club, but that could change if Klopp is handed a substantial transfer budget this summer:

“I would again say United are more likely to win the title next. If you ask me ‘will Liverpool win the league again under Klopp?’ The answer is I don’t know. Who are Liverpool’s new owners going to be? Is there going to be new investment in the club? And how much is it going to be?”

“If they have Jurgen Klopp as a manager and there’s a £200m or £300m transfer war chest in the summer, of course they could go and win it again. But if they don’t spend big in competing with City, Chelsea and United, then you’re making Jurgen Klopp’s job a lot harder in terms of winning the league. The teams that win the league – and there are always exceptions, such as Liverpool and Leicester – ordinarily they have among the biggest budgets. That’s the same for every league.”

There has been some speculation that the Reds’ owners FSG could sanction a sizeable summer recruitment drive, although you do wonder whether the club’s travails this season could affect their plans.

Liverpool are very much in danger of missing out on the riches that go with qualifying for the Champions League, with Klopp’s men currently ten points off the top four at the midway point of the season.

Without those additional funds being available, it could be very difficult to pull off a much-needed squad revamp.
