Garth Crooks Names One Liverpool Star, Arsenal Duo And 3 City Players In His Team Of The Week

BBC pundit Garth Crooks selected Liverpool fullback Trent Alexander-Arnold in his Premier League ‘Team of the Week’.

The 24-year-old struggled for most of the game during the 2-2 draw against Arsenal, but one moment of quality for Roberto Firmino’s equaliser was enough for Crooks to say that he warranted inclusion in his eleven:

“He nutmegs Zinchenko and then produces the most delightful clip to the far post for Roberto Firmino to head home. When Alexander-Arnold is on this form, his right foot is like a magic wand. In fact, when he’s in this mood I don’t care about his defensive frailties because he possesses the most exquisite quality.”

It was a fantastic piece of individual brilliance from Alexander-Arnold, but he will know that his performance overall wasn’t the best. It will be hoped, though, that the assist does boost his confidence.

In terms of the rest of the team that Crooks picked. Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale was chosen in goal, after making some excellent saves to ensure the Gunners got a point at Anfield.

West Ham’s Kurt Zouma and Manchester City’s Nathan Ake joined Alexander-Arnold in a back three. The midfielder was made up of Manchester United’s Scott McTominay, Wolves’ Matheus Nunes, Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise and City winger Jack Grealish.

Up front, Crooks went with Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus, City’s Erling Haaland and Tottenham forward Son Heung-min.
