Do you think Arsenal need to give Kai Havertz more time as Berbatov comes into his defense?

Dimitar Berbatov and former Arsenal star man Paul Merson are both positive about Kai Havertz despite all the complains around the globe.

There are lots of expectations from Kai Havertz after joining Arsenal during the just concluded summer transfer market from Chelsea.

It is expected that Kai should hit the ground running immediately because of his English Premier League experience and the fact that he would be playing for Arsenal side that was almost winning the League title last season.

Arsenal form would surely make an average player become good but that’s not the case for Kai Havertz since joining Arsenal except for the Community Shield encounter with Manchester City in which he was fantastic.

So many questions has been asked regarding the reason Arteta and Edu had to sign Havertz in the first place, also for the amount they spent to get him in and also people are now questioning the reason why Arteta is persistently starting him over the likes of Smith Rowe, Fabio Vieira and Trossard.

Havertz had the great chance to score his first EPL goal for Arsenal against Manchester United last Sunday at the Emirates stadium but he missed a great chance in Man United’s 18 box.

He is definitely not a bad player but he is certainly not giving what is expected of him at the moment.

Dimitar Berbatov’s Response In Defense Of Kai Havertz

“I love Havertz because he came from Leverkusen where I played for five years. I will always back him to succeed but it is going to be tough and he can feel it and sense it.

“I can see by his performance, that he knows that he needs to do better. He knows that fans, some of the fans, let’s say or the general public are a bit like: ‘He’s not performing well, he’s not giving assists, scoring goals or creating chances’ as much as everybody is expecting.

“So that’s why I want him to not overdo things. Don’t overcomplicate things, don’t be like: ‘Yes, I’ll show you. I will show everybody.’ Because of this, you start to overcomplicate the game.

“You just try to stay calm as difficult as it is, and trust me, it is difficult, I’ve been there. But try to stay calm as much as you can and just play the way you used to play. Don’t do much else and it will come trust me. It will come. The moment you start overcomplicating stuff, it’s not going to work out.”

Gunner Star Paul Merson on Kai

Havertz proved a divisive figure towards the back-end of his time at Chelsea too but former Gunners star Merson believes the “cream will rise to the top.”

“I feel for Kai Havertz. He’s playing in a position where it’s not easy,” he told Sky Sports.

“He hasn’t played very well.

“Mikel Arteta will stick with him. He’s low on confidence but Arsenal have won three and drawn one. You’ve paid that money and put yourself out there to go and get him.

“The cream rises to the top. I’m a big fan but I did say when he got signed, he has got that look of Mesut Ozil about him.

“That’s the problem. If it isn’t going well, he doesn’t look too interested. That’s not the case – it just comes across like that.”
