Didier Drogba has told Todd Boehly why Chelsea should hijack Man United’s dream £49m transfer
Manchester United are rumoured to be looking for a new striker in the January transfer window, and Didier Drogba has informed Chelsea why they should block a deal for one of Erik ten Hag’s top targets.
Didier Drogba has revealed to Chelsea why Manchester United is interested in Napoli player Victor Osimhen. For some time now, the 23-year-old striker has been extensively linked with a move away from the Italian giants as he continues to perform in Serie A.
Osimhen, whose contract at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium expires in 2025, has appeared in 10 games for Luciano Spalletti’s side this season, assisting on 11 goals.
His impressive displays have led Napoli to an unbeaten start to the campaign as they sit top of the table.
The Nigeria international has been one of the most prolific goal scorers in Serie A in recent years, and his strong start to the season has increased interest in his services. According to the Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils are interested in Osimhen as they build a shortlist of targets ahead of the January transfer season.
However, given the striker’s strong start to the season, a trade may be difficult to arrange. Osimhen was allegedly close to joining Arsenal this summer as Mikel Arteta sought a new talisman.
However, the deal fell through, and the Gunners instead signed Gabriel Jesus.
With the Nigerian courting great interest in his services, Drogba has already detailed exactly what all the fuss is about.

During Napoli’s Champions League clash with Ajax in October, Osimhen allowed fellow teammate to take a penalty Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Taking to Twitter, the Chelsea legend wrote: “That’s a complete striker. Unselfishness… The real meaning of ‘win as A TEAM’!!!!”
In typical Osimhen fashion, he went on to score later in the game as Napoli waltzed away 4-1 victors. With Drogba’s endorsement under his belt, there’s no surprise as to why he’s been linked with a move to the Premier League lately.
Despite the rumours, the striker’s lawyer, Roberto Calenda, told Radio Kiss Kiss in the summer that his client is eager to continue at Napoli. “We haven’t heard out yet that Osimhen is the topic of attention from so many teams,” Calenda added.
“However, things are done in three steps: who sells, who buys, and who plays.” But I, the youngster, and Napoli all had quite distinct notions. Whoever said a departure made a mistake.
“It was Victor’s desire to continue at Napoli and compete in the Champions League, which he and his teammates won last year.” Victor desired to have a successful season with Napoli, both in the league and in the Champions League.
“He has a long contract with the Azzurri. The market is dynamic, but our will is to continue at Napoli and continue to do well.”
