Chelsea are interested in signing Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele but he may not have his release clause set at €50m (£44m) for much longer, according to Mundo Deportivo.
As things stand, the Frenchman has a contract that includes a buyout fee of €100m (£87m) for January and €50m (£44m) for the summer. However, Barca a lining up a contract extension that would likely increase the price to sign the Frenchman significantly.
In addition to Graham Potter’s side, it is believed that Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham and even Wolves are keeping tabs on Dembele’s contract situation.
From the sound of things, though, the likelihood of the World Cup finalist being available for a low fee at the end of the season is looking increasingly unlikely.
Dembele is said to be happy at the Camp Nou, having been given a key role by manager Xavi this campaign, so Chelsea fans should temper their expectations regarding the player making the switch to Stamford Bridge.
