Chelsea Star “Exited” After Winning November Goal Of The Month Prize

Chelsea midfielder Erin Cuthbert says she’s “delighted” to have won the FA Women’s Super League’s Goal of the Month competition for November.

The 24-year-old scored with a well-taken half-volley in a 3-0 win over rivals Tottenham last month, helping Emma Hayes’ team to their seventh straight win. After being presented with the award, Cuthbert expressed her happiness at scoring on such a “special” day:

“I’m delighted to receive this award, it was an amazing feeling to score at Stamford Bridge, made even more special because my dad was there to witness it.”

38,350 fans turned up for the game and they witnessed a great finish from Cuthbert, as she rifled her shot into the top right-hand corner of Spurs goalkeeper Tinja-Riikka Korpela’s goal.

Cuthbert beat her teammate Lauren James, as well as the likes of West Ham’s Izzy Atkinson, Reading’s Tia Primmer, Brighton’s Katie Robinson and Arsenal’s Lauren Wienroither to the prize.

After their 8-0 win against Leicester in their last WSL fixture, Cuthbert’s side will face Reading on Sunday evening as the Blues look to maintain their position at the top of the table.
