Chelsea set to agree new improved deal for 30-year-old midfielder

Jorginho, the Chelsea midfielder, is allegedly seeking at least £150,000 per week in order to commit to a new contract at Stamford Bridge.

The Italy international midfielder is poised to become a free agent at the end of the current season, creating further doubt over his long-term future.

Jorginho and his representatives are negotiating a new contract with the West London giants, as the 30-year-old is still bound by the conditions he signed upon his arrival in 2018.

Although talks are still considered to be in their early stages, the midfielder’s agent, Joao Santos, has stated that the pair’s objective is to reach an agreement on a new deal with the Blues.

“We’re expecting in June.” Chelsea is a priority for us, and we are working toward it. “Jorginho’s other objective is to do well with the national team,” Santos told Tuttomercatoweb.

Barcelona are said to be interested in Jorginho, and while Santos has hinted that he may have talked the 30-year-old with other clubs, he has claimed that travelling to other areas of the world is just his job.

The report suggests that the Blues want to keep Jorginho on a wage similar to his current £120,000 per week deal, however, the Italian has asked for more.

Jorginho supposedly wants to earn as much as £150,000 per week at Stamford Bridge, which would take him to level with club captain Cesar Azpilicueta, who extended his Chelsea deal earlier this year.
