The Catalan publication claims that the bid was rejected by Real but the Blues are expected to return with another offer in the region of €80m (£68.5m). Fans on Twitter would love to see the France international move to Stamford Bridge, although many are doubting the reliability of the source:
Would be brilliant

Not sure I believe this, but I’m honestly not against it. Not sure if who I’d want if it had to be him or caicedo cause I don’t see them both joining the same summer. And I think if they can maybe meeting in the middle, like €70mil, that could be a really fair fee.

Tchouameni has been a long-term transfer target for Chelsea
The 23-year-old was actually on the Blues’ radar even before Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital bought the London club last year. There were reports that go all the way back to 2021 suggesting they had been in contact with the player and his agent.
Liverpool also had a longstanding interest in Tchouameni but he opted to move from Monaco to Real Madrid for €100m twelve months ago.
Whether the La Liga club would be open to selling after one season, it is open to debate.
Tchouameni hasn’t had the best first season at the Bernabeu
Despite being a very high-profile signing, the Frenchman only started 24 times in the league last campaign, with manager Carlo Ancelotti favouring a midfield of Eduardo Camavinga, Luka Modric and Toni Kross for big matches.
However, the decision to sell Casemiro to Manchester United last summer means there isn’t really anyone else in the Real squad who is an out-and-out holding midfield player.
With that being the case, Chelsea may face an uphill battle trying to persuade the Spanish side into selling Tchouameni. For that reason, the Blues are said to be looking at plenty of other midfielders as they look to strengthen that area of the pitch.
Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, Southampton’s Romeo Lavia and Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella are just some of the other names that have been mentioned as possible transfer targets. If Tchouameni is the club’s number one option, though, it will be interesting to see how negotiations play out.
