Chelsea are weighing up an approach for Atletico Madrid right-back Nahuel Molina, according to reports in the Spanish media.
It is believed that Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries is the Blues’ number one target but Molina is being considered just in case they can’t agree a fee for the Dutch international.
Dumfries’ original asking price was thought to be €50m (£43m) but, after a strong World Cup, Inter are said to have increased their valuation to €60m (£52m).
Molina, on the other hand, moved to Atletico for just €15m (£13m) last summer and, while the La Liga side are reluctant sellers, they do need to raise cash and could be tempted into offloading the Argentinian defender for the right amount.
Recruiting competition for Reece James has been identified as a priority for Chelsea. While the fullback has now returned to training, the London club need to have a suitable backup in place if he suffers another injury setback in the future.
