Chelsea Could ‘Seriously Target’ 26M Rated Serie A Midfield Dynamo After “Excellent” World Cup Show

Chelsea may look to “seriously target” Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie when the transfer window opens, according to Calciomercato.it.

The American international is regarded as a “realistic” January signing by manager Graham Potter, who wants to “revolutionise” his midfield.

With N’Golo Kante and Jorginho both set to leave Stamford Bridge when their contracts expire at the end of the season, the Blues are already seeking to strengthen their midfield.

McKennie is said to be on the club’s “shopping list,” with the 24-year-old considered as a potential squad option. The fact that Juve is prepared to trade for roughly €30 million (£26 million) makes the player an appealing target.

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher praised the midfielder as “excellent” after his display against England in the World Cup group stages, as the USA held the Three Lions to a 0-0 draw.

Other clubs, including Liverpool, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Everton, and West Ham, have previously explored making offers for McKennie, so we’ll see whether Chelsea is up against competition for his talents.
