Chelsea could launch move to sign Barcelona target in January: Reports
Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Ruben Neves, who is also being pursued by FC Barcelona. According to journalist Simon Phillips, the Blues have identified the Portugal international as a priority target for January.
“I’ve been told over the weekend that Neves is once again coming up in recruitment conversations and is a player being recommended by some at the club as a midfield target to push for in January.”
Chelsea are looking to boost their midfield ranks, according to Birmingham World, with uncertainty surrounding the futures of N’golo Kante and Jorginho. Both players are in the final year of their contracts at Stamford Bridge and may depart for free.
According to Birmingham World, the west London giants are hesitant to grant Kante a long-term deal. The Frenchman, 31, has been plagued by ailments in recent years.
There hasn’t been much progress in talks with Jorginho, who has also reached his thirties.
Given his skill and Premier League experience, Ruben Neves might prove to be an excellent signing for Chelsea. He has been one of the top players for the Wolves throughout the years and is still fairly young.
Despite Wolves’ problems at the bottom of the standings, the energetic midfielder has been a shining light this season. He has four goals in 14 games and is his team’s leading scorer coming into the World Cup break.

Barcelona might compete with Chelsea for the signature of the Portuguese midfield maestro. According to Sport, Xavi Hernandez’s side are also interested in signing the former Porto academy product.
Chelsea are interested in Barcelona full-back
The Blues are reportedly looking to lure Barcelona full-back Alejandro Balde away from Camp Nou. The west London outfit are believed to be preparing a €30 million bid to land the youngster, who has been a breakout star for Barcelona this campaign.
With his quickness and attacking runs, the teenager has established himself as a fixture in Xavi’s side. He is capable of playing as a left or right back and has done so under Xavi.
Balde, who came up through Barcelona’s youth ranks, has made 16 appearances across competitions this season, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
