Chelsea are lining up a €60m (£51.6m) offer for Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic, according to the Corriere Dello Sport (via Football Italia).
The Italian newspaper claims that Juve’s sporting directors Cristiano Giuntoli and Giovanni Manna are expected to travel to London in the coming weeks to discuss a potential transfer.
Vlahovic has struggled somewhat during his first full season at the Bianconeri, having scored 14 goals in all competitions, and the Serie A side are said to be willing to offload the striker.
From Chelsea’s perspective, the Corriere Dello Sport say that manager Mauricio Pochettino is a fan of the Serbian international. He is keen to sign a new number nine, with the Blues having struggled for goals last campaign.
Will €60m be enough to sign Vlahovic?
It is believed that Juventus are holding out for at least €70m (£60m) to sell the 23-year-old, so there is currently a €10m (£8.6m) disparity between the two teams.
You wouldn’t say that was an unbridgeable gap, though and, when the two Juventus officials do arrive for talks later this month, you would think that a compromise could be reached, potentially using performance-related add-ons to make up the difference.
Chelsea may have rivals for the player’s signature
A whole host of clubs have been mentioned as potential suitors for Vlahovic over the past few months. The likes of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have been linked, with the two clubs needing number nines.
In terms of Premier League teams, Manchester United are known to have an interest in the forward, while Arsenal did try to sign him before he made the switch to Juve eighteen months ago.
For the time being, though, it does appear as if Mauricio Pochettino’s side are the ones closest to making a formal offer for Vlahovic. We shall see how this transfer story develops.
