Brentford defeated Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League for the third consecutive season on Saturday, with to second-half goals from Ethan Pinnock and Bryan Mbeumo.

The Blues had recently shown indications of progress, going four games undefeated, with victories against Brighton, Fulham, and Burnley, as well as a 2-2 tie with Arsenal. But all of their deficiencies surfaced again against the Bees, as their offensive difficulties reappeared as Brentford completed a hat-trick of Premier League victories.

In the 58th minute, Pinnock headed in a cross from Bryan Mbeumo against the run of play, before Mbeumo added the second in the fifth minute of stoppage time, tapping into an empty net at the end of a fast break with Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez having gone up for a corner.

The first half was lopsided, with Chelsea playmaker Cole Palmer creating chances for Noni Madueke, Marc Cucurella, and Raheem Sterling. They were all wasted, with Madueke’s shot missing the crossbar.
