It is thought that Partey felt some discomfort in his knee during the pre-match warm-up and that the decision was made not to risk him in a friendly.
While the 29-year-old is also unlikely to play Nicaragua on Tuesday evening, he will remain with the national team before returning to England as planned following the game.
Partey appears to be fit to start the North London derby, though supporters will be anxious given that he has only recently returned to full health after being sidelined with a thigh ailment.
