Casemiro: Manchester United agree initial €60m fee with Real Madrid for transfer
Manchester United are set to pay Real Madrid an initial £50.7 million for Casemiro, with an additional £8.5 million in add-ons; the midfielder has agreed to sign a four-year contract with the option of an additional year; the Brazilian is unlikely to be signed in time for Monday’s match against Liverpool.
Casemiro is highly regarded by Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, although he is not regarded as crucial considering the variety of options available to the Champions League champions in the centre of the pitch.
Luka Modric signed a contract extension through 2023, and Toni Kroos brings pedigreed experience to complement Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Federico Valverde.

Real Madrid cannot guarantee a consistent distribution of minutes to Manchester United’s possible new signing. It will be seen as prudent to remove his salaries off the books while collecting a large transfer fee, although Real have emphasised that the final choice is Casemiro’s.
United have been yearning for a defensive midfielder for years, and the Brazilian has qualities that boss Erik ten Hag does not have in his side.
The former Sao Paulo player has appeared in over 300 games for Real Madrid and has helped the club win five Champions League titles.
After Christian Eriksen, Tyrell Malacia, and Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro is likely to become United’s fourth summer acquisition.
United are also looking to add a forward this summer, but their £67.6 million deal for Ajax winger Antony was turned down.
United is debating whether to increase their offer, but PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo is seen as a more realistic option.
