Carabao Cup fourth-round draw: Man City host holders Liverpool while Burnley travel to Manchester United
Man City’s reward for knocking out Chelsea is another massive home tie, this time against Liverpool; Manchester United host Vincent Kompany’s Burnley, and Eddie Howe’s Newcastle host his old club Bournemouth; fixtures to be played in the week beginning December 19 – just days after the World Cup final;
Manchester City have been drawn in the Carabao Cup fourth round against last season’s champions Liverpool.
City (four) and Liverpool (one) have won the last five editions of the competition, with Jurgen Klopp’s side defeating Chelsea in the final last season (who were defeated at the Etihad on Wednesday).
In 2016, Manuel Pellegrini’s Manchester City defeated Liverpool on penalties following a 1-1 draw at Wembley.

Manchester United were drawn to face Burnley in the fourth round, who are top of the Championship and coached by Vincent Kompany, the former Manchester City captain who won four Premier League titles with Man Utd’s opponents.
Eddie Howe’s former club Bournemouth will visit St James’ Park to face high-flying Newcastle, while Nottingham Forest’s reward for shocking Tottenham will be a trip to Blackburn.
All four surviving EFL teams were given difficult Premier League opponents. MK Dons will play Leicester, Charlton, the last London team remaining, will play Brighton, Gillingham will go to Wolves, and Lincoln will play Southampton.
The games will take place in the week of December 19, which means that several of the teams involved, notably Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool, may feature players who played in the World Cup final just days earlier.
