Description

The fellowship seeks to encourage and support all journalism students in Canada by assisting them with the expenditures of their study. Furthermore, the grant is meant to assist students prepare for a future in data journalism.

Other Criteria

Students with an interest in data journalism are eligible for the Investintech – CAJ Data Journalism Scholarship. Students who are eligible must satisfy the following requirements: – Majoring in journalism and pursuing either a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. – Currently accepted or enrolled in a Canadian college or university. – Pursuing a program of study leading to a bachelor’s or master’s degree in journalism. – Non-journalism program students may apply, but must demonstrate journalistic abilities and interest, such as having a published news piece or working for a collegiate magazine, among other things. The best entry will demonstrate strong data analytic abilities as well as good narrative methods.

Submissions must include: – An example of a piece of journalism that demonstrates the use of data skills – A description of what you accomplished and how you did it, as well as the resources you used. For collaborative project submissions, candidates must describe their function, the talents they utilized to fulfill that position, and the precise sections of the narrative, or tales, that their contribution affected. – A project concept you’d want to work on, especially if you have additional data journalism abilities.

Include a link to a statistic that demonstrates why the story is worthwhile to pursue, as well as a link to a story you want to produce or one that inspires you as a journalist. – A letter of recommendation from a professor or editor.
