FC Barcelona acknowledged the event and stated that both the player and his wife are well.
According to the Spanish newspaper El Pais, Aubameyang was beaten and forced to unlock a safe where the couple stored their jewellery. He and his wife were reportedly threatened with weapons and iron bars by the assailants.
According to authorities, at least four males broke into the player’s home before fleeing in a vehicle.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was a former Arsenal player (Martin Rickett/PA).

Aubameyang, a Gabonese international, joined Barcelona in January after playing for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga and Arsenal in the Premier League.

The 33-year-old did not appear in Barcelona’s 4-0 league triumph against Valladolid on Sunday evening.

He is one of the players projected to be moved to another team in order for the club to free up salary cap space. A watch was stolen off the arm of new Barcelona signing Robert Lewandowski when he came for practise at the club’s training centre two weeks ago.

In Spain, it is not unusual for footballers’ homes to be looted, albeit the crimes typically occur while the players and their families are away for matches.

Casemiro, Alvaro Morata, Gerard Pique, Samuel Umtiti, Jordi Alba, and former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane have all been alleged victims.

CHELSEA are said to have seen a deal for Barcelona forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang fall through.
Chelsea may have to admit defeat in their pursuit of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and look for late options before the transfer deadline on Thursday. The Blues’ discussions with the Barcelona forward are understood to have broken down, and Thomas Tuchel now faces a race against the clock to add further firepower to his front line in the coming days.
The ex-Arsenal striker was destined to return to the Premier League this summer, only months after leaving north London amid controversy.

Chelsea, Arsenal’s London rivals, were poised to sign the Gabonese striker after good discussions between former Borussia Dortmund mates Tuchel and Aubameyang. However, there appears to have been a snag in negotiations over a deal to see the striker travel to Stamford Bridge.

According to The Athletic, the Blues are reconsidering signing the striker in the last days of the summer transfer season. Aside from a disagreement with Barcelona over a sum for the 33-year-old, personal terms with the player are believed to be difficult, with rumours of high compensation demands.

Tuchel will be anxious to add to his attacking options at Chelsea in the coming days, but it appears he may have to go elsewhere following the Aubameyang setback. With that in mind, Express Sport examines four options that the Blues may be obliged to adopt.
