Arsenal are “very close to” finally securing the services of Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans, according to Sport.
The Catalan newspaper says that the Gunners are “willing to offer” £20m to get the move over the line as soon as the January transfer window opens.
Tielemans’ switch to the Emirates has been rather protracted with reports about the London club’s interest surfacing almost a year ago.
However, up until now, Leicester have been reluctant to sell the Belgian international for a cut price deal, having originally shelled out £32m on the player.
With Tielemans’ contract set to expire in June, though, it seems as if they are willing to let him leave next month to ensure he doesn’t leave on a free transfer.
Newcastle have also been mentioned as potential suitors but Mikel Arteta’s side have always been favourites for the 25-year-old’s signature. We shall see if Sport’s claims are backed up by other news outlets in the UK.
