Arsenal defeated Liverpool 3-1 at the Emirates to pull within two points of Premier League leaders.

The Gunners took the lead in the blockbuster match due to a goal from Bukayo Saka, but were pegged back when Gabriel handled into his own goal.

Mikel Arteta’s team battled with considerable pressure from the visitors before capitalising on a shocking blunder by Alisson and Virgil van Dijk.

The typically solid duo clashed, allowing Gabriel Martinelli to tap into an open net.

Jurgen Klopp’s side could not get back into the game and were punished late on as Leandro Trossard clinched the three points.

Declan Rice has also shared his thoughts on Arsenal’s victory.

He stated, “We knew the significance of the game today, the small margins of football, and the gap would have either grown or shrunk.”

“The only focus from everyone was to win and get three points.

“From start to finish it has been really positive and I think you could feel that today.

“Because we have people like Jorginho and skipper – Jorginho was good today.

“It was a kick in the teeth to concede, but we knew we had a good 45 minutes [in the first half] and we had to go out there and give everything.

“Of course when you are competing for titles they will tell you every game is so important.

“To do it in the way we did that is the thing we live for.”

A great performance from Jorginho, the coordination and his excellent leadership in today’s game helped the Gunners to secure a vital win at the Emirates Stadium.T
