Arsenal are interested in highly-rated Dutch defender Jurrien Timber with a potential transfer in mind, according to David Ornstein [via Fabrizio Romano on Twitter].
Romano reports that talks between Arsenal and Ajax regarding Timber are ongoing. Additionally, he also stated that de Godenzonen will require a fee in excess of £30 million in order for the player to leave the club this summer.
In Romano’s tweet, he wrote: “Arsenal want Jurrien Timber as concrete target, as David Ornstein reported — he’s top of the list that also includes Mo Simakan. Ajax will not accept £30m for Timber as they want bigger fee. Talks will continue as player’s keen on the move.”
Who else, besides Arsenal, are interested in a move for Jurrien Timber?
As mentioned, Arsenal are not the only ones in pursuit of Timber’s signature – Manchester United have also been monitoring the player for a considerable amount of time, with a potential transfer in mind.
Despite this, over the past few years United have become infamous for their lack of urgency in transfer windows. They have frequently seen players taken from under their nose – a recent example of this was Cody Gakpo, who ended up signing for Liverpool in the January transfer window after the Red Devils had been linked with a move for him.
As such, if Arsenal can conduct their business quickly, there is every chance that they will be able to beat Manchester United to the punch where Timber is concerned.
However, Manchester United aren’t the only other club in the race to sign the Dutchman – according to a recent report from the Metro, Bayern Munich are also thought to be keen on the player – they hope they can ‘scupper’ Arsenal’s move for him by entering the pursuit.
